Alma is fully into yoga, he practice daily since many years. He studied bhakti yoga in young age, 6 years in Madras (Ashram) and took several yoga courses: Yoga Foundation Course from Morari Ji Desai in Delhi, Yoga Instruction six months course from Dev Sanskrit Vishwavidhyalaya Haridwar, post graduation diploma in yoga science one year course from DSVV 2016, TTC Sivananda ashram Madurai 2016, ATTC Sivananda ashram Madurai 2017, TTC hatha yoga therapy (500 hrs) from Krishna Anda ashram.
He believe in share, love, compassion, help others what he have learned.

What to Bring: Comfortable sport clothes, sandals, notebooks, pen.
Attire: Dress casually and comfortably throughout the retreat. The temperature can be warm as we are in a tropical part of the country, so please bring light clothes.
Before the meditation and yoga classes:
- Make sure you go to the toilet. You don’t want to lose a bit of these teachings;
- Arrive on time to insure that you are not stressed or anxious.
- Do not eat 2h before or drink 1h before the classes.
- Take out all the accessories, earrings, bracelets, watch, rings, etc. If you have long hair, put your hair in a pony tail;
- Talk to the teacher if you are concerned about anything related with your your health state. Let us know if you are undergoing any medical treatment;
Trivandrum International Airport: The nearest airport is . From the airport you can reach Varkala by car, . train or bus, it’s about 50 km distance.. Takes 1h to reach. If you stay in Shiva Garden Home Stay, we can send a taxi to pick you up to our resort.
Cochin Airport: From Cochin to Varkala, you can take a train or a taxi (4h).
There are also Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai Airports (among others in India), that are quite far from Varkala. It can take one to two days for you to reach here.

WHAT IS YOGA
Yoga is a physical, mental, and spiritual practice or discipline, that aims to transform body and mind.
A Hindu spiritual and ascetic discipline with 5000 years history, including breath control, simple meditation, and the adoption of specific bodily postures, is widely practiced for health and relaxation.
The word ‘yoga‘ comes from the Sanskrit root ‘yuj’, which means ‘to yoke’ the spirit and physical body together. It’s a scientific method for raising consciousness, great health and a blissful life.
It is also believed that emotions and memories of an event or trauma are stored in the body’s tissues. Stretching and manipulation of these tissues can release this energy and tension, so that emotions surface.

RISK-FREE SATISFACTION GUARANTEE / CANCELLATION POLICY
If you are unable to attend for any reason, you may have someone substitute for your participation in the program. email the Sonia Indigo Academy Customer Service Department at least 30 days prior to the event to transfer your enrollment. A 500Inr fee will apply. Previously transferred and complimentary tickets are not eligible.
If you are unable to attend and do not wish to substitute, contact our Customer Service Department. We will convert your enrollment to a non-refundable voucher which must be used within one year from your original event date. Some restrictions apply. This voucher is valid for the events, therapies and private sessions on the Indigo Academy.
Once the event commences, Customers seeking a refund will need to visit our Customer Service booth during the Day 1 afternoon meal break at the event. Refunds are authorized at the event only. Yoga Teacher: Sonia Indigo
My Experience with Yoga started in 1989. At this time, I asked a yoga book of my father with the triangle pose on the cover, and started practicing yoga at home.
In 2004, I started to attend yoga classes. After the yoga practice we feel good, the body was not tense anymore, and we felt relaxed and more happy. For 5 years I had yoga classes with different teachers, teaching different yoga styles and I learned different ways of teaching yoga.
In 2006, in Portugal, I attended Yoga Teacher Course classes for 6 months.
In 2009, I left my office work and I come to South India, Kerala in order to attend the TTC (Yoga Teacher Training Course) at the Sivananda School in Neyyar Dam. The main teacher of the TTC was Sambu, a direct disciple of Swami Vishnu Devananda, whom became Sivannada International opening several schools all around the world, in his turn, a disciple of Sivananda the wise sage founder of the Sivanada Yoga School.
Sambu, gave me the spiritual name Saraswati, (Saraswati is the Hindu goddess of knowledge, music, arts, wisdom and learning).
In February 2010, I started to teach my first yoga classes in Shiva Garden Home Stay, located in South India, Kerala, Varkala, a touristic beach place. Through 2010, I taught yoga classes in Portugal, in several places.
From 2012 until the present day, I am teaching Yoga in the very origin of yoga and where I first started to teach, in Shiva Garden Home Stay in South India.
My Experience with meditation began at the end of 2007 following several life events. I then began to meditate every day for 30 minutes, praying and invoke the angels by myself at home. I hadn’t learned any meditation prior to this.This was the very beginning of one of the most significant changes in my life.
In 2013, I began including meditation in the yoga classes.
When I see the positive transformations in my students – whether it be after a single class or a yoga beginners course where I provide personal yoga coaching – and receive their feedback both in person and on the Trip Advisor site, I am gratified to learn that I am on the right Path: Teaching many yoga and meditation beginners and inspiring them to go on with the practice in their normal lives and, in some cases, the students get inspired to attend Yoga Teacher Training Courses.
Besides the Yoga, I have knowledge and experience in areas such as healing, astrology, numerology, sacred feminine, singing, among others, and I bring this background to transform a simple yoga class into a unique experience.
Alma Featured Yoga Teacher
Suleman Khan is my name and Spiritual name is “Alma Cigana” I was born in Baghpat u.p. north India on the 4th march of 1987.
I studied bhakti yoga in young age. I studied 6 years in Madras(Ashram) practiced Islam and after I move into yoga on and off.
I finished schooling then get admission in Delhi university . During the graduation , I join theater group and through the acting and literature , I felt change with in.
After Ie moved into yoga and left religion systems and take the Spiritual path.
After graduation I did the following yoga courses:
- YOGA FOUNDATION COURSE FROM MORARI JI DESAI IN DELHI;
- YOGA INSTRUCTION SIX MONTHS COURSE FROM DEV SANSKRITI VISHWAVIDHYALAYA HARIDWAR;
After these courses I traveled 4 years India and Europe Teaching Hatha yoga and meditation .
During Travel I felt that I should learn more about yoga and so I did the following courses:
- Post graduation diploma in yoga science one year course from DSVV 2016;
- TTC Sivananda ashram Madurai 2016;
- ATTC Sivananda ashram Madurai 2017;
- TTC hatha yoga therapy (500 hrs) from Krishna Anda ashram.

Special attention with: Joint issues, high blood pressure, pregnancy, seniors, glaucoma.
MEDITATION CONTRA INDICATIONS
Special attention with: schizophrenic patient with active psychotic symptoms. Meditation may be inadvisable in treating some personality disorders (DSM-IV cluster B – antisocial, borderline, histrionic, or narcissistic) which involve lack of empathy, as it could reinforce further preoccupation with the self that characterizes those disorders.

Participants are from all walks of life, from many different occupations, and from many different countries. But they all have one thing in common – Sonia’s and Alma’s work has transformed their lives and they want to help others do the same.
Are there breaks?
There one break after the karma yoga. You can leave your seat at any time, for example to refill your water bottle or use the restroom – however we highly recommend staying in the room as much as possible so you don’t miss anything.
How long is the event? How many hours per day are we in session?
A traditional Yoga Retreat Svadhiyaya is about 10 days of full immersion. It’s 10 hours per day. If you’re making travel arrangements, we recommend you schedule your flight for the day after the event ends.

Will food and accommodations be provided?
The Breakfast is provided. Additionally, there are multiple places to eat near the exposition space and on the event site there is the Shiva Garden Restaurant with plenty of nourishing juices and food available.
The accommodations are not included with your enrollment.
However, we have a resort, Shiva Garden Home Stay and we do contract with hotels in the surrounding area.
What should I wear?
This is not an event where you sit and listen the entire time – you will be moving, stretching, standing sitting, etc. Dress casual and comfortable. Bring sport cloth and light clothes because we are in a tropical part of South India. We highly recommend layering your clothing in case you become too warm/cold during the activities. Wear comfortable and supportive clothing.
What do I need to bring?
You will definitely need a large water bottle to fill up during the event – staying hydrated is paramount! Extra pens/pencils, a notebook, travel size tissues, and anything else you might think you need. Please keep in mind that there is not a lot of room within the seating area, so please bring only what can fit near your seat.
Can I record the event with my phone or any other recording device?
No. The Yoga Retreat Svadhiyaya event is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws, and any unauthorized recording (via either audio or video) is strictly prohibited. The materials you are provided at the event are also protected by copyright and other laws, and are for your personal use at and after the event. The content may not be copied, posted online or otherwise distributed. If you are taking photos with your cell phones or smart devices, please be mindful not to use flash which can be distracting.
Can I have full information about the curriculum contents?
No. The curriculum contents is confidential and it’s not provided prior the course. It will be given to the participants on the first morning.
We have a RISK-FREE SATISFACTION GUARANTEE, which means that if you are not satisfied with the Healing Massage Course Certification contents, once the event commences, customers seeking a refund will need to talk with Sonia by the end of the first day to get their refund. Simply turn in your workbook to Sonia Indigo on the moment of cancellation. After the first day, it will be no refunds.

I’ve never been to India. What do I need to know before coming there?

I’m not in a great state of health. Can I join?
Please indicate your health issues clearly in your application online form. Although yoga retreats are a very healing experience, it may be not indicated for you. If you have serious physical, mental and psychological issues we advise you to seek professional help first.
Is the retreat very challenging physically?
During the retreat we will practice yoga and meditation, if you are not a flexible person, it can be challenging physically, however, you make only whats is possible for you.
Can I bring my partner and / or child to the retreat?
We recommend you to take this time to retreat within yourself, and have plenty of alone time in the breaks. But if you still feel it is necessary to bring your loved ones, it is ok to bring your partner but children are not allowed on the course site.
Can you arrange transfer from and to the airport?
Yes, Shiva Garden Home Stay can arrange it for you. Let us know if you require a transfer.
What essentials do I need to bring with me?
Bring comfortable light clothes, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, insect repellent, your camera, notebook, journal, swimwear.
There are plenty of great shops in Varkala where you can buy clothes, toiletries, snacks etc.
Please ensure that your passport has at least 6 months of validity.

However, the 10 days Yoga Retreat Svadhiyaya on the Indigo Academy, offers an intensive program: we will be meeting for 10 days, for 10 hours per day! The retreats are packed with various yoga and meditation practices all aimed at empowering you to be the powerful and mystical person that you truly are. And it is only with consistent and deep practice that we can achieve long lasting results. Not many people offer a retreat like this.
